Since the rise of the pandemic, most people have been wary about venturing out. Physical and social distancing have become the laws of the land. We’re all waiting for the situation to end so we can finally venture out for things such as dog grooming and vacations.

But does that mean ignoring dog care until all of this is over? No! Grooming is essential and cannot be overlooked. Luckily, there are ways to ensure your dog is doing well, even during the lockdown.

DIY Grooming Until You Can Take Them to a Professional

We’re going to assume that it’s not possible for you to purchase grooming tools these days (combs, clippers, shampoos, etc. are required). However, just because you don’t have the same tools as a professional doesn’t mean you can’t do the job yourself.

You can still wash your dog using regular products—but be sure to find something that is gentle. Remember, washing always precedes grooming.

Once all the residue has been washed off, you can proceed to brush them. We wouldn’t suggest you clip and trim their fur at home if you are inexperienced. It can lead to injuries, especially if your dog is nervous.

Keep Them Safe

You already do, of course, but that isn’t what we meant here. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and in a time like this, extra precaution is a must. Dogs don’t have to worry about the virus, and while some dogs have contracted it, these are isolated cases that weren’t serious.

While you needn’t worry, you should look out for your furry friend. Keep them at home, even if they are restless. Take them out on regular walks, preferably when there aren’t a lot of people outside. And sanitize everything they are likely to come in contact with. Minimize your own contact with other people in order to stop the spread of the virus.
